Meet Jay & Teresa
Florida Forge & Fiber began with two people, two very different creative styles, and a shared love of making things by hand.
We’re Jay and Teresa, the husband-and-wife team behind Florida Forge & Fiber. Married for nearly four decades and having built a life and raised a family together, this business has become another chapter in a long history of taking on projects, solving problems, laughing through the chaos, and building something side by side.
Jay gravitates toward iron pipe, wood, vintage pieces, and unexpected objects. Teresa brings warmth and texture through fabric, fiber, wreaths, macramé, and rustic décor. Together, those two styles became Florida Forge & Fiber.
What started simply as creating things we enjoyed quickly became something more.
Jay began building handcrafted pipe lamps, turning ordinary iron fittings and carefully chosen props into characters with personality. A golfer, firefighter, Marine, cowboy, musician, lineman, or one-of-a-kind custom piece isn’t just another lamp coming off an assembly line. Each one is individually built, and the little details are what give it character.
Teresa’s work brings the other half of Florida Forge & Fiber to life. Her handmade wreaths, fiber pieces, pillows, seasonal décor, and rustic home accents add softness and warmth alongside the industrial character of Jay’s creations.
Before long, our projects were filling more than our home and workshop. People were buying them, requesting custom pieces, coming back for another, and telling their friends.
We realized we had created something worth building together.
From Our Workshop to Our Shop
Florida Forge & Fiber grew from occasional handmade pieces into a true small business — but we never wanted it to lose the feeling that made people connect with our work in the first place.
Everything we create still begins with us.
We choose the materials. We hunt for the unusual little details. We build, paint, stain, assemble, and finish our pieces ourselves. Sometimes an idea begins with a customer. Sometimes it begins with an interesting object we find and the question, “What could we make out of this?”
And sometimes we don’t entirely know what something is going to become until we’re halfway through making it.
That’s part of the fun.
In August 2026, Florida Forge & Fiber reached another milestone when we opened our permanent shop at Howard’s Flea Market in Homosassa, Florida. What began at folding tables and local markets now has a place we can call our own, with both a front shop and back store filled with our work.
For us, though, this business has never been about filling shelves with mass-produced merchandise.
It’s about making things with character.
It’s about creating something you aren’t likely to find anywhere else.
And when someone asks us to create a piece inspired by a career, hobby, military service, favorite sport, or someone important in their life, it’s about building something that means something to them.
We’re incredibly proud of how far Florida Forge & Fiber has come, and even more excited about where it’s going.
If you’re in Homosassa, stop by and see us. Browse the shop, wander into the back store, see what’s new, and say hello. You never know what we’ll be working on next.
